Privacy Policy for Fleck: AI Journal

1. Information Fleck may process

Depending on how you use Fleck, the app may process:

• voice journal recordings you create;
• transcript text generated from recordings;
• typed journal entries, edits, and other journal text;
• generated reflections or sketches and recent journal context used to create them;
• subscription and entitlement information, including subscription status, restore status, product identifiers, and related purchase information handled through Apple, Google Play, and RevenueCat;
• paywall and subscription interaction data used to operate paid access;
• an opaque app-installation identifier, a pseudonymous RevenueCat app user ID, and limited operational request metadata used to authorize and protect AI gateway access; and
• support communications, if you contact us.

Your journal may contain sensitive personal information depending on what you choose to record or write. Fleck processes this content to provide its journaling, transcription, reflection, export, subscription, and support features.

2. How Fleck uses information

Fleck uses information to:

• let you record, write, save, edit, export, and revisit journal entries;
• transcribe audio when transcription runs;
• generate AI reflections or daily sketches when you use those features;
• manage subscriptions, restores, entitlements, and paid-feature access;
• authorize and protect AI gateway access;
• troubleshoot issues and provide support; and
• maintain and improve app reliability.

Fleck does not sell your journal content.

3. Local-first storage

Fleck stores recordings, transcripts, generated sketches, typed entries, edits, and related journal metadata in app storage on your device. Some features require sending data to outside services as described below. Depending on your iPhone or Android settings, operating-system or device backups may also copy or restore Fleck’s local app data.

Fleck does not currently provide a user-created Fleck account or a Fleck cloud-sync service.

4. When data leaves your device

AI routing and installed-version differences

Current Fleck versions route transcription and AI-sketch requests through Veld’s AI gateway before they reach the applicable provider. Older installed versions may send transcription requests directly to Deepgram and AI-sketch requests directly to a Google Gemini API. Users can update Fleck through their app store to receive the current routing and safeguards.

In current versions, Veld’s gateway temporarily handles request and response content in plaintext memory. The gateway application is designed not to intentionally persist or log journal content, although limited operational metadata may be logged by Veld or its infrastructure providers for reliability, security, and abuse prevention.

Current gateway-enabled versions send a pseudonymous RevenueCat app user ID through Veld so the gateway can ask RevenueCat whether the Fleck Pro entitlement is active. Fleck also sends an opaque app-installation identifier for authorization and abuse controls. The RevenueCat identifier is excluded from AI session tokens and content logs.

Transcription

When you record a voice fleck and transcription runs, the audio is sent to Deepgram to generate a text transcript. Depending on the installed version, the request may go directly to Deepgram or pass through Veld’s AI gateway first.

AI reflections and sketches

When you use an AI daily-sketch feature, all completed journal text for the day being sketched—including transcripts, typed entries, and edits—plus up to 30 saved sketches from the preceding 30-calendar-day context window may be sent to a Google Gemini service. Depending on the installed version, the request may go directly to a Google Gemini API or pass through Veld’s AI gateway to Google Cloud Vertex AI using a Gemini model.

If automatic daily-sketch generation is enabled, Fleck may send that content when the app checks for missing or stale sketches. You can turn automatic generation off in Settings and write or generate sketches manually instead.

Subscriptions

When you purchase, restore, or manage a subscription, Apple, Google Play, and RevenueCat may process purchase, restore, entitlement, product identifier, and paywall-related information to provide billing and subscription access.

Journal export

If you export your journal, Fleck creates a Markdown file on your device and opens the native share sheet. Original audio is not included. The privacy of exported files depends on where you choose to save or share them.

5. Third-party services

Depending on the installed version and feature used, Fleck uses or may continue to use:

• Veld’s Fleck AI gateway, hosted on Google Cloud, for short-lived request authorization and routing in current versions;
• Deepgram for audio transcription;
• Google’s Gemini API for AI-generated daily sketches in older installed versions;
• Google Cloud Vertex AI using a Gemini model for AI-generated daily sketches in current versions;
• RevenueCat for subscription and entitlement management;
• Apple for App Store distribution, billing, purchases, refunds, and subscription management on iPhone; and
• Google Play for Android distribution, billing, purchases, refunds, and subscription management.

These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies. Veld does not control every aspect of provider processing after data is sent. Veld does not intentionally use your journal content to train its own AI models.

6. Tracking and advertising

Fleck does not use third-party advertising or advertising-identifier-based tracking. RevenueCat may process limited product, subscription, entitlement, or paywall interaction data to operate subscriptions and paid features; Fleck does not use that data for third-party advertising.

7. Data retention, requests, and deletion

Journal data stored locally may remain on your device unless you delete it in Fleck, delete the app, or otherwise remove its local data. Device backups may retain or restore app data according to your platform and backup settings.

Deleting or discarding a fleck removes it from Fleck’s local storage. For a recorded fleck, that action also removes the saved local audio file. If a generated or stale daily sketch used that fleck, Fleck also removes the dependent sketch so deleted content does not remain there. You can separately delete a saved recording while keeping its transcript.

To request deletion of a RevenueCat subscription customer record, choose Privacy data request in Fleck Settings. Fleck prepares an email containing the pseudonymous support identifier, platform, and app version needed to locate the record. Support may require verification before processing a request. Deleting a RevenueCat record does not delete journal data stored locally and does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription.

Data already processed by transcription, AI generation, billing, or entitlement providers may be retained under their policies and legal obligations.

We may retain support communications as reasonably necessary to respond, troubleshoot, maintain records, or comply with legal obligations. Contact fleck-support@getveld.ai with privacy questions or requests concerning support communications.

8. Subscriptions and billing

Fleck subscriptions are handled through the store used for your device: Apple’s App Store on iPhone and Google Play on Android. Apple or Google may process payment, purchase, refund, subscription, and account information under its own terms and privacy policy. Veld does not directly receive your full payment-card details.

RevenueCat helps Fleck determine whether a subscription entitlement is active and may process product identifiers, entitlement status, restore events, and related subscription data. Manage or cancel through the store account used for purchase.

9. Children’s privacy

Fleck is designed for adults and is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through Fleck, contact fleck-support@getveld.ai.

10. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information processed by Fleck. No app, device, network, or service can be guaranteed completely secure. Use care when recording sensitive information and protect access to your device.

11. AI-generated content disclaimer

Fleck’s AI-generated reflections and sketches are for personal journaling and reflection. They are not medical, mental-health, legal, financial, or professional advice. Fleck is not a crisis, emergency, therapy, or healthcare service. If you are in danger, in crisis, or need urgent help, contact local emergency services, a crisis hotline, or a qualified professional.

12. International processing

Fleck’s outside services may process information in the United States or other countries where they or their providers operate. Those countries may have privacy laws different from those where you live.

13. Your choices

• You can type flecks instead of recording audio.
• You can choose not to use transcription or AI-sketch features.
• You can turn off Use AI services in Settings to stop future AI sends and automatic generation.
• You can delete saved audio while keeping transcript text.
• You can delete or export journal entries using Fleck’s controls.
• You can manage subscriptions through your App Store or Google Play account.

Fleck requests affirmative permission before future transcription or AI-sketch transmissions. Revoking permission stops future sends but cannot recall data already processed by a provider. You can continue using typed flecks and write sketches manually without AI.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and may provide additional notice where appropriate.
